If you’ve ever sent out a dozen brand pitches and heard crickets, you're not alone.

UGC creators often spend hours filming, editing, and uploading—only to feel stuck when it comes to actually landing the deal.

But here’s the truth: brands want to work with creators. If they’re not responding, it's usually because of something small (and fixable!) in your approach.

Let’s uncover the 5 most common pitching mistakes I see all the time—and how you can avoid them.

1. Sending the Same Script to Every Brand

Brands can feel a copy-paste message from a mile away.

Fix it: Personalize your pitch. Mention a recent product launch, campaign, or ad you saw. Show them you took the time to care.

2. Leading With “I” Instead of “You”

“Hi! I’m a UGC creator and I’d love to work with you” sounds harmless—but it puts the focus on you, not what the brand needs.

Fix it: Flip it around. Focus on what the brand is trying to achieve and how your content can help them get there.

3. No Clear Offer or Outcome

If you’re just offering to "make content," that’s too vague.

Fix it: Be specific. Offer 3 short-form videos to use as ads, or 2 lifestyle clips plus a product demo. And mention how it can drive awareness or conversions.

4. Poorly Formatted Emails or DMs

Long blocks of text? Typos? No portfolio link? That’s a no-go.

Fix it: Keep it short, skimmable, and professional. Use spacing. Always include your portfolio or a link to your work.

5. Not Following Up

This one’s huge. So many deals are lost because the creator never sent a follow-up.

Fix it: Wait 3-5 business days and send a polite follow-up. Brands are busy. Your reminder may land at the perfect time.
